How We Use Your Data

I. Purpose of This Page

This page summarizes, function by function, what personal data the Service processes and why. It is a companion to, and does not replace, the Privacy Policy, which is the complete legal description of the categories of data processed, the legal grounds relied upon, the persons to whom data is disclosed, the duration of processing, and the rights available to data subjects. In case of any inconsistency between this page and the Privacy Policy, the Privacy Policy prevails.

II. Account and Profile Data

To create an account, the Provider processes the User's email address and password, the latter stored exclusively in hashed form by the authentication provider. To complete a profile, the Provider processes the name, photo, biography, city, country, university, institutional email address, year of study, and age provided by the User, in order to display the User's identity and, where relevant, student status to other Users.

III. Roommate Matching and Favorites

Lifestyle and housing preferences disclosed by the User — such as smoking habits, cleanliness, personality traits, quiet hours, and budget — are processed to facilitate roommate matching and listing search; providing this data is entirely optional. Listings saved by the User, and any folders created for that purpose, are processed so the User can retrieve them later.

IV. Listings and Tenant Data

Where a User publishes a listing, the Provider processes the property's address and geographic coordinates, price, photos, amenities, and a contact telephone number and/or email address, in order to let other Users find and contact the User about the property. Once published, a listing and its contact details are publicly accessible, including to persons who have not created an account.

Where a User manages a listing, names and bed assignments entered for tenants are processed to help the User manage occupancy. The User is solely responsible for having obtained the consent of any person entered in this way who does not themselves use the application.

V. Messaging, Reports, and Roommate Teams

The content of messages exchanged between Users is stored so that conversations persist across devices; messages are not end-to-end encrypted. A User may block another User, in which case the blocked User's identifier is recorded on the blocking User's account to prevent further contact.

Where a User reports another User or listing, or contacts support, the Provider processes the account or listing reported, the reason given, and any details or attachments provided, in order to review the report and maintain the safety of the Service.

Where a User creates or joins a roommate "team" for a listing, the Provider processes the group's membership and the preferences set by each member, such as willingness to share a bed. This data is visible to other signed-in Users of the Service.

VI. Location Data

With the User's permission, the device's GPS position is used, at the time of a search, to sort and filter listings by distance. This data is processed on the device and is not stored in association with the User's profile. It is distinct from the geographic coordinates of a listing, which are stored, as described in Section IV.

VII. Notifications and Technical Diagnostics

A push-notification token tied to the User's device is processed to deliver alerts for new messages, roommate-team activity, and favorites placed on the User's listing.

Crash reports (device model, operating system version, and the technical details of any application error) and basic, aggregate usage statistics are processed automatically by the Provider's infrastructure provider, in order to diagnose malfunctions and improve the Service.

VIII. On-Device Features

The application's translation feature runs entirely on the User's device. Listing text submitted for translation is processed locally and is not transmitted to the Provider or to any third party.

IX. Advertising

The application displays advertisements through the Google AdMob network to support its free provision. In this context, the device's advertising identifier and other technical device signals may be processed for the purpose of ad selection. The User may restrict this processing at any time from the device's privacy settings, as described in the Privacy Policy.

X. Website Waitlist

Where a visitor joins the waitlist on the website, the Provider processes the email address submitted, in order to notify the visitor when the application launches.

XI. What We Do Not Do

  • The Provider does not sell personal data to third parties.
  • The Provider does not request or store identity documents, passports, or other proof of identity.
  • The Provider does not currently collect or store payment card data; the Service's core functions are free of charge.
  • The Provider does not use the Service to build advertising profiles beyond what is described in Section IX.

XII. Where to Learn More
